3 RDIMS# 564695 v1 3 Cockpit Voice Recorders  CAR/CASS 605/625.33 amended Sept. 1, 2003.  Aircraft Manufactured after Dec. 31, 2002, require 2 hour CVR.

4 RDIMS# 564695 v1 4 406 MHz ELT  Cospas-Sarsat Council planned termination of 121.500 MHz capabilities by February 1, 2009.  ICAO agreed termination date of 2008.  Transport Canada NPAs for 406 MHz ELTs for International Operations

5 RDIMS# 564695 v1 5 TAWS (Part VII NPA’s)  New NPA’s for CAR 703, 704, 705 reviewed by Part VII Technical Committee meetings in 2003.  NPA’s passed at Oct. 29, 2003 CARC Committee, now with DOJ.  Estimate 1-2 years before regulations come into effect.  New aircraft compliant at promulgation.  All aircraft compliant by promulgation + 2 years.  Compliant with Altitude Accuracy Requirements by promulgation + 5 years.

6 RDIMS# 564695 v1 6 TAWS (Part VI NPA’s)  New NPA’s for CAR 605 scheduled to be presented at GOFR in Dec. 2003  Requires TSO C-151 Class B TAWS for Turbine Powered aircraft with 6 or more passenger seats.

7 RDIMS# 564695 v1 7 TAWS (Summary Table) 1 Altitude Accuracy requirements apply (Alerting required independent of altimeter setting or deviations from ISA). 2 Relief from TAWS requirements for Day VFR operations. 3 Terrain & Airport database must be suitable for area of operation. 4 Class A TAWS (including Terrain Display) is always sufficient where a Class B TAWS is mandated.

8 RDIMS# 564695 v1 8 ACAS (Part VII NPA’s)  New NPA’s for CAR 702, 703, 704, 705 passed at Oct. 29, 2003 CARC, now with DOJ.  Estimate 1-2 years before regulation come into effect.  Existing aircraft compliant by promulgation + 2 years.  New aircraft compliant at promulgation.

10 RDIMS# 564695 v1 10 ACAS (Part VI &VII Summary Table) Note 1 -- TCAS II SW 7.0 and Mode S required for RVSM airspace.

11 RDIMS# 564695 v1 11  WAAS commissioned by FAA in July 2003.  Good signal coverage in Alberta, Sask. & BC (due to U.S. reference stations in Alaska)  Stations proposed for Winnipeg, Goose Bay and Gander starting 2005 WAAS

12 RDIMS# 564695 v1 12  Current guidance material on GPS in CBAAC 123R is applicable to operations using WAAS receivers.  WAAS receivers may be used to fly all existing GPS approaches.  There are not yet any Canadian approaches which take advantage of additional WAAS capabilities (e.g.: LPV approaches) WAAS
