3 Emergency Procedures Accident and incident reporting Accident – An accident is an event that HAS CAUSED injury to a person or damage to property. Incident – An incident is an event that COULD HAVE caused injury to a person or damage to property Near miss – A near miss is an event that COULD LEAD to an accident or incident Accident and incident reporting Accident – An accident is an event that HAS CAUSED injury to a person or damage to property. 4 Emergency Procedures What to do in the case of an accident/ incident on the yard. Stay calm! Ensure you are not in any danger before approaching patient. Assess the situation (A,B,C) Get help – either instruct someone to get a member of staff or go yourself. Keep patient calm, talk to them reassuringly until help arrives.
