Definition and Background Project STEADI (Simulation Technology Education to Assist the Defense Industry) Funded by ICAPP (Intellectual Capital Preservation Program) Project STEADI the result of Defense Industry contractor concerns In the summer of 2007, prepared a request for funds to initiate Project STEADI The project was approved and began on March 1, 2008; it ends on September 30, 2008 2

Project Mission To produce the first course for a modeling and simulation certificate (15 credit hours) within the Master of Science Degree in Applied Computer Science and complete all other elements of Project STEADI on time and within budget 3

Cunningham Center for Leadership Development Seek Joint, Collaborative Effort with in conducting original research at Fort Benning—a ready made “Petri Dish” of leadership data in multiple areas: Build and Market Leadership Simulations, Models, and Games in support of CCLD to meet MCSD, Regional Healthcare and Fort Benning Leadership Requirements Build a leadership data base second to none Begin publishing original research 11

Defense and Homeland Security Companies CSU to provide modeling, simulation and gaming programmatic expertise to help companies secure government contracts Provide local defense contractors with a quality source of modeling, simulation and gaming talent Offer modeling, simulation and gaming consultative services to local contractors and their companies 12

Economic Development Partners: To Meet Workforce Development Needs Work with economic development partners to attract new and small business to region in modeling, simulation and gaming industry Work with CTC and CVCC and FRTC to meet total workforce development needs within region Help identify future Modeling, Simulation and Gaming programmatic needs of companies now located or anticipated to locate in region 13

Project STEADI and Beyond If Project STEADI only takes us through September 30, 2008 how do we get to September 2011? 20082009201020112012 Project STEADI Project STEADIE (Extended) M&S Curriculum Expanded Project STEADI Final M&S Track Base Complete Concept Paper is due to ICAPP in October Decision to Extend STEADI has been delayed DOL Grant Covers $38,000 14

Concluding Thoughts Project STEADI has accomplished far more than ever envisioned We have just started what must be a continuing effort The opportunities uncovered by Project STEADI are numerous and real The future is Modeling, Simulation and Gaming; the future is YOU! 15
