10 Apprenticeship Bakersfield Adult School No Apprenticeship Training Bakersfield College The Apprenticeship Certificate of Achievement Program is a four - five year program designed to develop a career in Carpentry, Electricians, Operating Engineers, Plumbers & Steamfitters or Sheet Metal. Students must be accepted into the program and have a trade-specific job placement to begin the program. This program will prepare students for a Journeyman level status in the trade. 11 Programs for Adults with Disabilities Bakersfield Adult School BAS contracts with the Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens (BARC) to provide the following programs for disabled adults: Workplace & Community Communication Skills Service Occupations’ Work Skills Socialization Skills (ABE) Production Occupation Work Skills: Packaging, Graphic Designs, and Landscape Maintenance Bakersfield College No direct programs are provided; however, student accommodations are provided in the following areas: Classroom & Testing Accommodations Career/Job Placement Assistance Specialized Classes (Adaptive Fitness and Assistive Technology)

13 Gap Analysis Gaps in Services Outlying areas may need additional services Additional basic skills courses Need more CTE courses; particularly in: Welding, Carpentry, Diesel Mechanics No Financial Aid at BC for students without a HS Diploma or GED Some courses are not available at BAS for those with a HS Diploma or GED

15 Bakersfield Adult School & Bakersfield College Planning Needs Funding for research and personnel who will coordinate/facilitate the research needed to evaluate the needs of adult education, including an assessment of possible gaps Funding to assist faculty and staff in development of integrated programs that would provide seamless transitions from adult education into secondary education and the workforce. Funding for a coordinator who will work with both campuses to create integrated programs and will evaluate and expand CTE pathways with the goals of creating seamless transitions through articulated classes and accelerating students into CTE classes at the postsecondary level. Funding for professional development for faculty and staff in order to coordinate the facilitation between BC and all partners within the Consortia.
