7  Assess for need  Focus on number sense—rational number attributes and operations  Provide direct, systematic, and explicit instruction  Use Concrete-Representational-Abstract sequencing  Give appropriate attention to procedural fluency (facts and algorithms)  Be consistent  Address motivation and productive disposition
