2 May 18, 2015 UNAIDS Purpose Improve the Joint UN Programme of Support  Basic Level of Knowledge Collect information on epidemic and response in one document and use information to enhance UN knowledge on the status of the epidemic and the response  Analytical Level Use knowledge to deepen understanding and develop analysis on specific aspects of relevance/importance to the national response -identify gaps -identify priority areas of support

3 May 18, 2015 UNAIDS Content: Part 1 – The Epidemic  National and local prevalence (state, province, district)  link to Global Epi Update  Pattern of the epidemic: low, concentrated, generalized  Epi trends, Second Generation Sentinel Surveillance data  Most affected groups: age, gender, refugees, MSM, sex workers, IDUs  Regional/sub-regional Epi profile
