The Roundtable on Sustainable Forests Helps the U.S. implement national scale criteria and indicators (C&I) for sustainable forests Provides a forum for stakeholders to suggest approaches to implement and interpret the C&I Fosters shared learning among diverse stakeholders, across multiple scales, from international to national to state, tribal, and local Encourages sharing of diverse types of knowledge and points of view Promotes increased understanding and more informed decision-making about our nation’s forests Roundtable Purpose (as described in the past)

The Roundtable on Sustainable Forests Self-chartered in 1999 Participants have included representatives from: Federal agencies (USFS, USGS, BLM, many others) Tribal, state, and local governments Industrial forest landowners & companies Non-industrial forest landowners Conservation and environmental groups Regional and community-based organizations Academics and other researchers Overarching Philosophy: Better Data leads to Better Dialogue, which leads to Better Decisions
