10 Indents and Normal Style First-line indents occur when you drag the first triangle on the left side of the ruler. This indents the first line of text on the left side only.Hanging indents occur when you drag the 2nd triangle on the left side of the ruler. This indents the 2nd and succeeding lines of text on the left side of the paragraph and leaves the first line at the left margin (the left indent moves with the 2nd triangle when a hanging indent occurs).Left indents occur when you drag the rectangle on the left side of the ruler. This indents all lines of text on the left side of the paragraph (both triangles and the rectangle moves when dragging the left indent).Right indents occur when you drag the triangle on the right side of the ruler. This indents all lines of text on the right side of the paragraph. In an MLA Style Report, paragraphs are first-line indented ½ inch and the Works Cited Page, the works are hanging indented ½ inch.Default normal style places 10 points of blank space after each paragraph.Default normal style inserts a vertical space equal to 1.15 lines between each line of text.
11 SourcesMLA style requires that the works cited be listed in alphabetical order by the author’s last name, or if the work has no author, by the work’s title.Look at the Plan Ahead Section on p. 88 on how to do the worksFootnotes are inserted at the bottom of the pageEndnotes are inserted at the end of the report
