9 Culture Experience Two cultures: Chinese culture and English culture Different experiences in weekend When I came to England, I found that people liked joining the party and drinking beer to spend their weekend. Dissimilar with English, Chinese people liked spending their weekend on shopping and getting together with families. Therefore I had come across different cultures of two different countries

10 Translation Talent Culture A: a particular civilization at a particular period Translated into Chinese: 一个特定时代下的特定文明 B: the attitudes, feelings, values, and behavior that characterize and inform society as a whole or any social group within it Translated into Chinese: 教 [ 修, 素 ] 养

11 Translation Talent Personal point: I choose this two definitions because I think “ culture ” is generally composed of actions from individual activities and social group activities. The development of culture is a long-term progress, and it always keeps a continual changing. It involves not only that from individuals, but also the society. Actually the final result of culture is a stimulating influence among divers elements. Meaning stands for social influence: a particular civilization at a particular period Meaning stands for individuals: the attitudes, feelings, values, and behavior that characterize and inform society as a whole or any social group within it CHEN Hongxi 11th October 2008
