2 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering ApprenticeshipsNI is a Northern Ireland work-based programme designed around the needs of employers offering recognised training/qualifications to new and existing employees aged 16 and over, across a wide range of disciplines.

3 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering NRC is a Recognised Training Supplier, contracted by the Department for Employment & Learning (DEL), to deliver training at both Level 2 & 3 under Industry - Approved Frameworks

4 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering Candidate Eligibility - a person must be:  in or about to take up permanent remunerative employment with a Northern Ireland-based company  contracted to work a minimum of 21 hours per week

5 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering  have the potential to successfully complete all requirements of the appropriate apprenticeship framework;  meet any health requirements (e.g. colour vision) specific to the occupation of their choice;  Qualifications Profile

6 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering EMPLOYERS  Apply their criteria during recruitment  Only potential participants who are assessed as capable/committed to achieving full requirements of the framework should be recruited

7 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering RESTRICTIONS TO ENTRY A person who has previously achieved a recognised vocational qualification at Level 2/Level 3 can only undertake an apprenticeship which is both unrelated to their qualification and in a priority skills framework

8 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering Level 2 & 3 Apprenticeship Framework Breakdown Frameworks have been devised by industry bodies together with the Sector Skills Councils and are therefore tailored to ensure they meet the needs of industry

9 togetherbringing EDUCATION & INDUSTRY A Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework  Competency based NVQ at Level 2 (PEO)  Technical Certificate: e.g. BTEC Level 2 Certificate/C&G Level 2 Certificate  Essential Skills (Numeracy/Literacy/ICT) – if not already achieved Level 3 Apprenticeship Framework  Progression from Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship  Competency based NVQ at Level 3 (Depends on Pathway Chosen)  Technical Certificate: e.g. BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering/ C&G Level 3 Certificate  Grades must satisfy entry criteria for specific Technical Certificates
