A WARD Employee Recognition Program Redesign – BRAVO and the Business Affairs’ Guiding Principles The new Financial Affairs Rowdy Bravo Award (BRAVO) is based on the Business Affairs Brand: Your Partner for Successful Solutions Brand Promise: We are committed to helping you achieve your goals through excellence in service — every person, every day, every job. Each nomination must meet at least one of the Business Affairs Guiding Principles : - We RESPECT and care for each other; - We PARTNER to deliver excellent service; - We VALUE and empower people; - We CREATE positive change; and - We DO the right thing. 3

Define BRAVO Employee Characteristics WHO IS A BRAVO EMPLOYEE?  A person who is a contributor to the success of Financial Affairs, Business Affairs and the university community in any number of ways  A person who embraces the Business Affairs Guiding Principles  A person who embodies the BRAVO attributes (identified on next slide) These employees represent the spirit of the Financial Affairs BRAVO program. 4

6 W HO C AN BE N OMINATED ? BRAVO – Nomination Eligibility / BRAVO Gold Star WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR NOMINATION  Any Financial Affairs employee up to, and including, directors  Nominations can be for individuals or teams  Every nomination will be acknowledged with a BRAVO Gold Star; nominee, nominator and supervisor will receive notification when an employee has been nominated  EVERY Nominee will receive BRAVO Gold Star (sent to supervisor to present to employee) 6

8 N OMINATION P ROCESS BRAVO – Nomination / Recommendation Process  Anyone (Financial Affairs employee, UTSA employee, students) can submit a nomination for a Financial Affairs employee (individual or team) doing something which nominator feels should be recognized  A nominee may receive more than one nomination during each nomination period  One of the biggest changes to the program is the Nomination form  Monthly emails will be sent to ALL Financial Affairs employees during each 3-month period as a reminder to submit nominations  Submit Nomination(s) using the online Nomination form at anytime throughout each nomination period  Nominee must meet a minimum of ONE of the Criteria/Attributes identified earlier in this PPT and on the Nomination Form  Each nominator will receive an automatic acknowledgement when nomination is submitted  Financial Affairs ASO (Candy Schlueter) will monitor the Financial Affairs email weekly to check for nominations 8  EVERY Nominee will be presented a “BRAVO Gold Star” from their department director. 1 st Quarter: (September – November) Review of nominations and Recognition will take place in December 2 nd Quarter: (December – February) Review of nominations and Recognition will take place in March 3 rd Quarter: (March – May) Review of nominations and Recognition will take place in June 4 th Quarter: (June – August) Review of nominations and Recognition will take place in September  NOTE : Nominations can be submitted at any time during the 3 months; the recognition of the top 2 nominees will take place during the following month (see above bullet for nomination and recognition/presentation schedule)  Supervisor will receive email indicating his/her staff person has been nominated  Nominator will receive a “thank you for submitting a nomination” email NOMINATION PROCESS

9 T HE N EW U SER -F RIENDLY N OMINATION F ORM BRAVO – Nomination Form NEW NOMINATION FORM (on Financial Affairs website)  More user-friendly; less intimidating; less time-consuming than previous programs  Check boxes are provided along with a section for nominator to provide specific details to support the nomination  Clearer description of nomination criteria  Identified on the actual Nomination Form as well as in the program description  Selection boxes to match criteria/attributes for nomination  Click and select” the criteria/attributes that nominator feels apply to this specific nomination  Additional details pertaining to nomination are to be entered in the Description box on the form  Click here to access the Nomination FormNomination Form ANY day is the right day to submit a nomination! 9

10 T HE U NIVERSITY OF T EXAS AT S AN A NTONIO BRAVO – Recommendation / Selection Process Recognition Selection Committee will consist of 5 Financial Affairs employees:  3 Non-Supervisor (one from the Redesign Committee)  2 supervisors  Committee members will serve for one year (4 quarterly presentations) Recognition Selection Committee will perform the following functions, with the assistance of ASO II (Candy Schlueter):  Review all nominations received during nomination period  Recommend top 2 nominations for the BRAVO Award, and forward those onto Associate VP for Financial Affairs. This process will be based on “strength” of nominations (this is where the additional information provided in the Description Box on the Nomination Form will be very helpful) Associate VP for Financial Affairs will review the top 2 nominations forwarded by the Recognition Selection Committee and decide which one will receive the BRAVO Award  Top 2 nominees will receive a Rowdy Dollar Card  How will winners be recognized ?  BRAVO winner will receive a Financial Affairs shirt plus a Rowdy Dollar card to be used at any venue across campus (Gift cards are taxable income to employees)  BRAVO winner will also receive a framed certificate  Certificate will be prepared by Financial Affairs ASO II (Candy Schlueter)  BRAVO winner will receive a copy of their nomination  The runner up will receive a Rowdy Dollar card to be used at any venue across campus 10 BRAVO AWARD RECIPIENT SELECTION PROCESS

11 T HE U NIVERSITY OF T EXAS AT S AN A NTONIO BRAVO – – Award Presentation Process Recognition / Presentation  What makes for a good celebration?  Food, recognition, group involvement, a “party” atmosphere  How will the recognition/presentation take place?  Department Director will be notified in advance to assist in planning  Department Director will provide celebratory goods (food, cookies, etc.)  Associate VP for Financial Affairs, ASO II and Communications Manager will join the recognition  Award, certificate and balloons will be presented to winner in front of fellow teammates 11  Recipient’s name will be posted to the Financial Affairs’ website; with one or two lines of their nomination - identifying the Guiding Principle attributes that contributed to their selection as the BRAVO Award winner BRAVO AWARD PRESENTATION PROCESS Acknowledge your fellow Financial Affairs employees by submitting a nomination for a job well-done!
