The main aim is the conservation of biodiversity, which includes: creating a wide diversity of habitats and encouraging maximum diversity, creating a maximum diversity of plants, protecting the capacity of the plant population for generative reproduction. The Silesian Botanical Garden conducts the following scientific research: diagnosis of the reasons for the loss of biodiversity, environmental data gathering, modelling of environmental changes, developing remedial actions.

Nature Heritage Center of Upper Silesia The purpose of Nature Heritage Center of Upper Silesia is to work for the good of inanimate and animate nature of Upper Silesia by the accumulation of knowledge and scientific, and educational safeguard to keep the identity of the region and the role and importance of its natural values. The center is the only local government unit of this type in Poland.

12. Environmental activities in our school The students: monitor water in the river Ruda. analyse the use of alternative energy sources, waste segregation and environmental activities undertaken in the environment.
