Remember that a high Turnover does not necessarily equate to a high Gross Profit. It is the Gross Profit that is insured so this is of importance. In the example given above, we can calculate the rate of profit as follows: Gross Profit £25,000 × 100 = 25% (Rate of Gross Profit) Turnover (Sales) £100,000

Explain how insurable interest arises with regard to each of the characters in our scenario. Identify a contentious issue relating to material facts and describe how Insurers, the Broker and the relevant Policyholder may feel about this. Explain how you would deal with this ensuring the customer is treated fairly.

Explain how you would manage the expectations Jamil Gillani with regard to the need to triage before carrying out mitigation works. Describe two drying methods and explain the impact on either Sarah Kinash and Mangit Hassan when drying equipment is used. Provide guidance as to which method of drying should be employed in both Sarah’s and Mangit’s properties.

Consider how the Policyholder might feel if the watch had been inherited from their deceased parent. Explain the importance of identifying a possible Business Interruption claim. Outline what information you require to establish the rate of gross profit. What documentation would you request to assist in the calculation of the amount payable under the BI Policy.
