I Cor. 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

I.THE “UNIVERSAL” CHURCH II. THE LOCAL CHURCH Part I - Recapitulation

One Head and One Body Two areas where the Local Church should reflect the Universal Church : He is the HEAD of the Church that in ALL things He might have the Pre-eminence.

Pt. II - The Problems of the Local Church in Corinth 1. The Problem of Disunity – I Cor. 1:10-30 Paul’s Appeal for Unity in the Church. 2. The Problem of Immaturity – 3:1-3, 4 Paul could not Advance with them. They were Childish and Carnal: They still needed Milk and not Meat. 3. The Problem of Immorality – I Cor. Ch. 5 a) Paul was Appalled by their Tolerance of Incest in their midst. b) Paul Advised them to Act on the guilty within and leave those without to God. 5:11-13

I Cor. 5:11-13 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. Cp. I Cor. 6:9, 10

The T EN Serious Sins of Brothers (and Sisters) which call for Separation – 6:9-11 ( cp. 5: 11) not to keep company…with such an one no not to eat …such were some of you: (6:11) cp. if any man that is called a brother be…(5:11) 1) A Fornicator – from Gk. pornos 2) An Idolater – worshipping any “God-usurper” 3) An Adulterer – a violator of the marriage bed 4) A Thief – taking what is not his/hers. 5) An Extortioner –exacts more than his/her due. 6) Covetous – the sin of greed "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Mt. 6:25, NIV

7) Effeminate – malakos, of uncert. affin.; soft, i.e. fine (clothing); fig. a catamite. (Strong) addicts to sin of the flesh (Vine) those who have lost their manhood (Barclay) those who make women of themselves (Darby) abusers of themselves as women (Kelly)(passive) male prostitutes (NIV, NRSV) 8) Abusers of themselves with mankind – homosexuals – assuming the active role. 9) A Drunkard – habitual intoxication of an alcoholic. 10) A Reviler – user of violent, vile, vulgar language.

http://www.malaysia-chronicle.com/ South African peace icon Desmond Tutu on Friday [26 July, 2013] said he would rather go to hell than worship a homophobic God, likening the fight against gay prejudice to the anti-apartheid struggle. "I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place," the retired archbishop said at the launch of a United Nations gay equality campaign in Cape Town. "I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this," he said, condemning the use of religious justification for anti- gay prejudice.

I Cor. 6:11 – And such were some of you: BUT... ye are washed, B UT … ye are sanctified, B UT … ye are justified in the name of the L ORD J ESUS, and by the S PIRIT of our G OD.

A Word of Caution and Clarification: I have written you…not to associate with sexually immoral people-- not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral…. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral… I Cor. 5:9-11, NIV Ex-Gay Movement, Alive, Strong, & Moving Forward! Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? 6:9

1) All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 6:12 2) Meats for the belly, and belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. 6:13a 3) Therefore, the Body for fornication and fornication for the body??? Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.6:13b And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by His own power. 6:14

K NOW YE NOT …? a. Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 6:15 b.What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith He, shall be one flesh.6:16 c.What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?6:19 d.Their bodies are the Spirit’s Dwelling – they will be Destroyed, if Defiled. 6:12-19, 20 cf. 3:17
