8. Hermes (Mercury) Messenger of the Gods Was also the god of trade, thieves, travelers, sports, athletics. Hermes symbol was the Talaria (winged sandals) which helped the god fly around and get places quicker. Hermes helped Odysseus on his journey especially on Circe’s island.

9. Hephaestus (Vulcan) Smith of the Gods Hephaestus’ symbol was the hammer and anvil, which he used to forge most of the Olympians weapons. When he was born Hera threw him off of Olympus because he was “ shriveled of foot”, but in another story attempting to rescue his mother from Zeus' advances, was flung down from the heavens by Zeus He also made Achilles armor in the battle of troy.
