6. Enter the classroom quickly and quietly – Be on time! Sit at assigned seat/desk Look for and follow any instructions written on the board Wait quietly for further instructions Bathroom Policy: It is expected that all students will use the bathroom before the start of class. If there is a bathroom emergency, students must raise their hand and ask to use the bathroom. Sign the “Classroom Sign Out Sheet” with your name, date, and time, and take the bathroom pass. When you return, sign back in with the current time and return the pass. If I notice that a student is asking to use the bathroom too frequently, that student will lose bathroom privileges!

7. Students should check Mr. LaPine’s website regularly. Class policies and procedures will be posted. Performance calendar (for dress rehearsals and concerts) and concert attire (concert dress code) will soon be on the page. All homework assignments and any announcements will be posted regularly. Recordings of the music will be posted as.mp3 files on the website, and you will be able to downloaded them to your computer or.mp3 player.

8. I expect that you will fully participate in every class. You are expected to work hard every day. You must learn your music and complete all assignments thoroughly. If you need extra help, please ask Mr. LaPine to work with you before or after school. Students are expected to be fully prepared for every class. They need: Their agenda and a pencil. Students in chorus are expected to attend and fully participate in every dress rehearsal and concert. Students in chorus are expected to memorize all of their concert music. Students are expected follow all of the classroom rules and procedures in every class, dress rehearsal, and concert.

9. Students will be respectful and appropriate at all times. Students will fully respect their teacher. Students will respect all classroom equipment. Students will fully respect each other. There will be no inappropriate, physical contact with any student. Students will respect each other’s property Harassment, intimidation, and bullying will never be tolerated. Students will self-correct their behavior. Students will assess their own behavior and correct inappropriateness without the need for adult intervention. Student will further monitor their behavior and prevent any inappropriate conduct before it begins. If behavior is not immediately self-corrected *, the following progression of consequences will be enacted: Step 1: 1 st Offense 1-on-1 discussion with teacher Step 2: 2 nd Offense Parental contact and consequence (detention) Step 3: 3 rd Offense Parental contact and administrative intervention * Depending on the severity of the of the infraction, the progression of consequences could be enacted even with self- correction; if the infraction is particularly inappropriate, the progression of consequences could begin directly on Step 2 or 3.

10. You can expect that I love music and teaching music. You can expect that I will be fully prepared for each class. You can expect that I will be strict in enforcing all class rules. You can expect that I love to have fun while making music. You can expect that I will give you more privileges only if you follow all class rules. You can expect that you will be graded fairly. Student in Orchestra can expect that I will make sure that you are fully prepared for every performance – But, I cannot do this alone. You and I are a team, and we must work together to give our audience the best performance that we possibly can!
