3 Henry of Lancaster defeated Richard of York,
and became King Henry VII of England in 1485.

4 Henry VII married Elizabeth of York.
Why do you think he did this?

5 Henry VIII was the son of Henry VII.
Henry VIII became king in 1509 when his father died.

6 Catherine gave birth to Mary.
Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon, hoping she would give birth to a son. Divorced Catherine gave birth to Mary.

7 Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, hoping she would give birth to a son.
Beheaded Anne gave birth to Elizabeth.

8 Henry VIII married Jane Seymour, hoping she would give birth to a son.
Died Jane gave birth to Edward. Why was Henry so keen to have a son?

9 Unfortunately, Henry thought she was too ugly.

She is well known for executing many people.
