4 Standards Matrix – Element 1 Standard for Central Office Administrator Preparation Change Initiative AlignmentConnection to Curriculum Learning Institute 1.2The administrator will demonstrate the skills needed to work with the board of education and district/community members to facilitate the development of a vision of learning for a school district that promotes the success of all students Materials were developed for Curriculum Task Force members to use when presenting the Common Curriculum Review Process to their local school board. The presentation explains the positive effect of an aligned written, taught and assessed curriculum has on student learning. Building a vision was discussed in our very first session with Karen Hart. Our change initiative fits perfectly with the vision of our Curriculum Task Force. Our Vision: Our Vision: The Curriculum Task Force will provide a coordination of curriculum, assessment, and pacing guides to support higher student success, while continuing to keep districts abreast of the changes in educational practice, and supporting each other in implementation.

5 Standards Matrix – Element 1 Standard for Central Office Administrator Preparation Change Initiative AlignmentConnection to Curriculum Learning Institute 1.3The administrator will use data-based research strategies to assure the district vision takes into account the diversity of learners in a district The Common Curriculum Review Process uses research based strategies identified in Align the Design to help move the schools throughout our ISD toward our vision of coordinated curriculum, assessments, and pacing guides to support student success Align the Design: A Blueprint for School Improvement by Mooney & Mausback is the test resource that was provided to all Curriculum Learning Institute participants. This book does a good job of laying out a plan for how to drive change in schools. In addition to the tools presented in the book, the authors included personal reflections and other texts that have inspired them in their work.

6 Standards Matrix – Element 1 Standard for Central Office Administrator Preparation Change Initiative AlignmentConnection to Curriculum Learning Institute 1.6The administrator will use data-based research strategies and strategic planning processes that focus on students learning to develop the district vision, drawing on relevant information sources such as student assessment results and current responses to these results, student and family demographic data, and an analysis of community needs An integral part of the Common Curriculum Review Process will be to review student assessment data and determine which curriculum processes are having a positive effect on student learning and where there are achievement gaps In the Balanced Assessment session, Ed Roeber & Kim Young discussed the three types of data: formative, interim, and summative. All three data types are reviewed as a part of the Common Curriculum Review Process. Additionally, they pointed out that in a Balanced Assessment System, all elements of the system are aligned (standards, curriculum, instruction, learning, assessments, & professional development). This is one of our key goals in a common curriculum review. District Data Sample Data Review Data Action Plan

7 Standards Matrix – Element 2 Standard for Central Office Administrator Preparation Change Initiative AlignmentConnection to Curriculum Learning Institute 2.4The administrator will show evidence of promoting technology and information systems to enrich district curriculum and instruction, including strategies to engage underrepresented students Technology integration strategies will be integrated into the strategies for each content area. Specifically, technology integration will be discussed when creating the guide for instruction where teachers are creating units and pacing for instruction. The Quality Instruction presentation by Karen Hart & Karen Mlcek reviewed strategies for integrating technology. Technology can be used to differentiate instruction allowing all students to access to appropriate learning. Technology systems provide us with data on individual & groups of students progress in each standard. Sample Book Study Artifact
