4 AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK GROUP Description Preparatory Activities Feasibility and Detailed engineering design and preparation of bidding documents including environmental and socio- economic impact studies for the upgrading of the Cuamba- Mandimba road (160km) in Mozambique; economic evaluation and detailed engineering design and preparation of tender documents including esia for the rehabilitation of the Mangochi-Liwonde Junction road in Malawi; Feasibility study and preliminary design of the Malawi/Zambia one-stop border post; Detail engineering design and preparation of bidding documents for the Malawi/Zambia and Mozambique/Malawi one-stop border posts; Legal framework for the extra-territorial operation of one- stop border posts at the common border crossing

7 AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK GROUP Benefits Infrastructure Need in Africa (according to PIDA) An efficient and safe electricity supply mode to Burkina Faso improved, affordable and sustainable access to energy for WAPP countries with limited energy resources Economic benefits from cost-savings associated with a significantly reduced utilization of fossil fuels for powering generating plants in Burkina Faso Fiscal benefits accruing to both Ghana and Burkina Faso governments through increased business and industrial activities; Ensure security of electricity supply for the interconnected networks in the region in the long-term, through diversification of supply sources and optimal utilization of the region’s energy resources
