3. Introduction Transport key for promoting economic growth, connectivity, access to trade thereby promoting sustainable development and addressing poverty. Transport contribution to GHG emissions Transport contributed 13% of South Africa‘s energy emission base year 2000(DEAT, GHG inventory 2009).

Threats, Challenges and Opportunities for action The EPWP has secured funding for infrastructure projects, specifically road projects and it is envisaged that some funding will be used to create green jobs in these projects Development of NMT infrastructure & green jobs around 2010 roads projects
