21 Protecting the Learner and Others Clothing –Wear the proper clothing for the job. Proper fit Good Condition Protects the learner from: –Heat, Cold, Sparks, Flame, Flying Debris, Harmful Light, Sharp Objects, Electrical Shock, Caustic Liquids, & biohazards.

22 Protecting the Learner and Others Boots & Shoes –Protection from: –Sparks, Heat, Flame, and Cold –Electrical Shock –Crush Hazards –Harsh Liquids and biohazards –Cuts, Punctures, & other injuries –Slips and Falls Should be leather, Non-skid boots in the Shop

24 Good Housekeeping A clean shop will keep you clean and safe. We will sweep EVERY DAY!! Don’t sweep debris out the door!! Clean and put tools in their proper place. Take care of the Equipment.

25 General Safety Tips Use your head – Common Sense NO HORSEPLAY!!!!! Properly Fitting Clothes No Jewelry on you hands Keep Tools in proper working condition Sharp Tools are Safer that Dull Tools Use tools for the Job it was intended for

26 General Safety Tips Make sure you know how to use the tool If a tool breaks, Tell Mr. Wicker! Keep both hands behind the cutting edge Keep out of “Danger Zones” when not using a machine Don’t Bother anyone when they are working

29 My Expectations of YOU Mature attitudes and behavior resulting in a safe shop. Work Hard Stay Busy Be a person of good character Be Respectful Realize that it is everyone’s job to keep the shop clean & safe. The shop is a place to be serious, it is not a playground.
