3 Gallery Walk – Vocab notes – Use pages 47-48 of your spiral At each table you will find 1-2 vocab terms For each term, you will want to do 2 things: – Write down the term on pages 47-48 – Write down the definition IN YOUR OWN WORDS You will only have 5 minutes per table: – Please use your time well! – Please work together!

4 Biodiversity Definition: The variety of plants and animals that live in one area

5 Carbon-Oxygen Cycle Definition: Carbon and Oxygen cycle among plants, people, animals, and the environment

6 Deforestation Deforestation – removing or clearing away trees from a forest

7 Sustainable Development Definition: Using resources in ways that meet the needs of people today, without hurting the needs of the future

8 Tropical Rainforest Definition: Evergreen forest found in wet and hot regions

9 Natives Definition: A person whose ancestors have always lived in the Amazon Rainforest

10 Rubber Tapper Definition: A person who uses the sap from the rainforest trees to make rubber

11 Logger Definition: A person who cuts down trees to sell or make wood products

12 Settler Definition: A person who will move to the forest to live

13 Cattle Rancher Definition: A person who raises cattle for the milk and beef they provide

14 Environmentalist Definition: A person who works toward protecting the environment

15 Government Definition: The group of people who make political decisions of a country, state, or city.

16 Vocab Illustrations DUE TODAY AT THE END OF CLASS!! Draw a quick illustration/icon/symbol/etc for each term that you defined today – The goal is to have a visual representation for what each term means – You should have 12 total illustrations MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON THE PAPER!!
