Regional Energy Agency Kvarner Ltd. Regionalna energetska agencija Kvarner d.o.o. Primorsko-goranske županije Darko Jardas, M.Sc., Director Invest forum of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka Opatija, October 30, 2013
Regional Energy Agency Kvarner Ltd. has been established by the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, with the support of the European Commission, Intelligent Energy Europe program in 2009; The Agency is established as a single organization and institutionalized framework for more rational use of existing energy resources; The main objective and the role of the Agency is to promote and encourage sustainable regional development in the field of energy through the use of renewable energy sources and introducing energy efficiency; The Agency also supports the introduction of 'good practice' in energy management, encourages the concept of sustainable development, provides information and advice, as well as a range of other services based on specific local energy needs; The Agency's mission is to increase the share of renewable energy in total energy consumption in its region.
MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE AGENCY: proposing and implementing measures to achieve energy efficiency (EE) and the use of renewable energy sources (RES) – also known as Energy savings in buildings (energy audits, energy certificates, recommendations for increasing the efficiency of heating, lighting and installation) premanent citizen’s education monitoring and assessing the current situation and analysis proposing energy action plans with emphasis on EE and RES cooperation with local governments on energy projects and making of their SEAP’s project application to EU and other funds Greenhouse gass Energy consumption Renewables
Projects “Sun on your roof” in solar thermal collectors Project “Green energy in my home” in year’s project extended to biomass systems Projects are aimed to co-finance households in installing heating systems using renewable energy sources Total costs of equipment and installation of solar or biomass systems in households are co-financed in the amount of 40% of the investment. “Sun on your roof” and “Green energy in my home”

Public building of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County The project involves investment in photovoltaic power plants with capacity of 30 kW each, suited on the flat roofs of buildings owned by the local government. The area of the county of Primorje and Gorski Kotar has a great potential to exploit the solar energy. The Power purchase contract gives the investor/project developer a proof that their electricity production will be incentivized for a period of 14 years. “Public flat roof market ”

Installation of solar farms up to 50 hectares is adequate for planned Site, having a maximum power output of 10 MW per location. Physical planning documents: A portion of the site has already been defined by the Primorje- Gorski Kotar County Physical Plan and the remainder will be determined by physical plans of municipalities and cities.
Technical School of Naval Architecture and Engineering in Rijeka Participants of the training course for photovoltaic installers in Croatia Project PVTRIN (Eng. Training of Photovoltaic Installers) addresses the market need for skilled technicians by developing training and certification schemes for installers who who wish to activate in PV installation and maintenance.
