3 AN INDIAN FEAST

4  Prepared with yogurt and spices, the name comes from the type of cylindrical clay oven, a tandoor, in which the dish is traditionally prepared. TANDOORI CHICKEN

5  Lassi is a popular, traditional, yogurt-based drink from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water, spices and sometimes, fruit. MANGO LASSI

6  Milk or yogurt may also be used to impart distinct tastes to the naan. Milk used instead of water will, as it does for ordinary bread, yield a softer dough.  Typically, it will be served hot and brushed with “ghee”- hindi for butter. NAAN

12  The writing system is called devanagari.  Each word is made up of a large consonant or vowel character and a small vowel symbol, usually a slash mark.  The vowel * sounds like the a in again. This vowel occurs by default and does not need to be written.  In Maatraa form, the vowel follows a consonant and is written in a slightly different form. THE HINDI ALPHABET
