1 Use the Sensory Cloud template as a tool to help students describe qualities about the featured fruit or vegetable. HOW TO USE IT: The Sensory Cloud allows students to fully explore the featured produce using all of their senses. It is best done in conjunction with these educator newsletter activities: Taste Testing Cooking in Class Students can use adjectives to record their observations in the designated “clouds.” Use the following questions to conduct this activity and the following descriptors as prompts to help students think creatively about the featured fruit or vegetable. GET STARTED: 1.Customize the Sensory Cloud template by inserting the name and image of the featured produce into the center of the cloud. 2.Print one copy per student doing the activity. 3.Conduct Taste Testing activity. Distribute Sensory Clouds and have students fill in their handouts. ✓ Helpful Hint: If limited on resources to print organizers, have students create their own using pencil and paper. What does the produce look like? Shape? Size? Texture? Color? What does the produce feel like? Smooth or uneven? Hard or soft? Wet or dry? What does the produce smell like? Sweet? Earthy? Salty? Bitter? What does the produce sound like when you touch or chew it? Crunchy? Squishy? What does the produce taste like? Salty or sweet? Mild or spicy? Tart? Starchy? Earthy? Juicy? SENSORY CLOUD
