2.  Breadth of learning from mainframe to Microsoft (and many things in between)  As a major in the ITDS Department you can  Learn to develop software in the dot net environment  Learn to write code in a mainframe environment  Learn to mine large data sets for hidden patterns  Learn to build and manage databases and data warehouses  Learn the secrets of hackers and how to protect against them

3.  As a major in the ITDS Department you will have opportunities to explore beyond the classroom such as the:  Microsoft Imagine Cup competition where you can work with others to build software applications to help solve a global issue  IBM Master the Mainframe competition where you can hone heavily sought after skills in a 3 part competition  Cyber Security Competition where you work with others to show your cyber skills

4.  Join the AIS and/or inFORMS Student Chapters where you can  meet people from companies who want to hire you  get ‘behind the scenes’ access to on-site company visits  offer your skills to the community in unique and fun ways  Be part of a network of students from around the world  Attain the CNSAA Security Certificate which gives you an advantage in the job market  Attend seminars through our ITDS Corporate Partners Program that covers topics ranging from the latest in business intelligence to mobile computing to complex problem solving

5.  People who work in the ITDS fields often have jobs that allow them to  work with many functions of business throughout the organization  continually learn new things  pursue a variety of career tracks and  NEVER GET BORED!!!
