3 ENGLISH/ LANGUAGE ARTS – MRS POWELL 4 courses required Milestone tests for 9 th lit and American lit No Georgia High School Writing Test Normal sequence: 9 th lit/ comp 10 th lit comp/World Lit comp American Lit comp or AP language & Composition English Lit comp or AP Literature & Composition or ENC 1101 (dual enrollment)

4 MATHEMATICS 4 courses required Changes coming for courses offered to rising freshman Milestone tests for Algebra & Geometry Normal sequence: Algebra Geometry Advanced Algebra (Algebra 2) Pre-Calculus or AMDM Accelerated track with AP courses offered for advanced learners (AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC) Support courses available with Algebra & Geometry

5 SCIENCE – MRS AKIN 4 courses required Required Classes: 1 Unit Biology 1 Unit Physical Science OR Physics 1 Unit Chemistry OR Environmental 1 Elective Georgia Milestones: Physical Science and Biology

6 ADVANCE PLACEMENT SCIENCE: A SCORE OF 3 OR BETTER GETS COLLEGE CREDIT!!! AP Physics 1 Admission is by application AP Chemistry Pre-requisite : Chemistry AP Env. Science Pre-requisite: Biology & Chemistry (must pass with a 75 or better) AP Biology Pre-requisite: Biology & Chemistry (must pass with a 75 or better) For AP Chem: A 3 gets 4 hours of credit at UGA, GSU, Georgia Southern, Armstrong Atlantic, Valdosta State, Kennesaw, …etc.

7 ELECTIVES PRE-REQUISITE FOR ALL ELECTIVES: BIOLOGY FORENSICS ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

8 SOCIAL STUDIES – MRS. JACKSON 4 courses required Milestone tests for US history & Economics Normal sequence: 9th grade: AP Govt for gifted/accelerated content students only 10th grade: World History or AP World History 11th grade: U.S. History or AP U.S. History 12th grade: Economics, AP Macroeconomics, Government Academic Electives: Sociology and Psychology, recommended for 10th-12th grade, these count towards HOPE GPA Extracurricular: National History Day, Model UN

9 FINE ARTS – MR. SWEAT Visual Arts Pathway 3 or more completed courses with an average of 85+ in the Visual Arts Performing Arts Pathway 3 or more completed courses with an average of 85+ in the Performing Arts. The classes can be taken in Band, Choir and Orchestra. The classes may all be in one section or any combination of the 3.

10 FINE ARTS Fine Arts Honor Graduate – awarded by the county Fine Arts Office Medallions presented to seniors to be worn at graduation ceremony. Silver Medallion – 4 consecutive years of successful participation in the fine arts, with a minimum average of 85 each year. Gold Medallion – 6 consecutive years of successful participation in the fine arts, with a minimum average of 85 each year.

11 FINE ARTS Classes offered: Orchestra - Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and Chamber Guitar - Beginning, Guitar I, Guitar II (instrument required) Band - Beginning, Intermediate, Adv Percussion Ensemble Art I: pre-requisite for all art classes Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Fibers, Photography, AP Studio Art Vocal Performance - Men’s Choir, Women’ Choir, Mixed Chorus, Ensemble Piano Class (keyboard)

12 MODERN LANGUAGE – MR. HENRIQUEZ & MRS. BARNETT 2 courses required for college admission 3 courses in the same language = a pathway 4 levels of Spanish including AP Minimum recommended grade to enter Spanish III = 85 in Spanish II 3 levels of French competitions

13 CAREER TECH (CTAE) – MR. JARVIS Pathways available: Business & Technology ​ Education & Teaching Entrepreneurship Financial Management - Accounting Marketing & Management Programming/Advanced Programming We also have the following CTE electives: Work-based Learning Youth Apprenticeship

15 AIR FORCE ROTC – COLONEL RAINEY & CHIEF SPEARS Career Pathway Available Requirements: 3 Classes AFJROTC I AFJROTC II AFJROTC III Three class completion gives you a PE credit

19 REGISTRATION TIMELINE March 10 th & 12 th – homeroom to give students credit checks or transcripts March 17 – class choices made completed throughout the day After Spring Break – students will be given a copy of their choices with an opportunity to make changes
