They have backbone/skeleton The body is divided in: head, trunk and limbs (except snakes) There are five groups of vertebrates: Fish Amphibians Reptiles Birds Mammals

2 Fish They have: head, trunk, fins and tail
The body is covered with scales They live in water (oceans or fresh water) They breathe through gills They are oviparous They are cold blooded They have gas/air bladder There are two groups: Cartilaginous (Sharks and rays): the skeleton is not made of bone, only teeth are bony. The fins are fleshy.Live mainly in the ocean Bony : they have thin fins

3 Amphibians They have: head, trunk and 4 legs (some have tails)
The skin is wet and have no scales When babies they live in water and breathe through gills. As adults they live on land and breathe through lungs. This change is called metamorphosis They are oviparous They are cold blooded

4 Reptiles They have: head, trunk, limbs (4 legs, except snakes) and tail Their body is usually covered with hard scales or a shell Most live an land but some live in water They are oviparous They are cold blooded They breathe through lungs There are four groups: 1.crocodiles lizards snakes turtles

5 Birds They have: head, trunk, limbs(2 legs & 2 wings) and tail
Their body is covered with feathers They are oviparous They are warm blooded They breathe trough lungs They have hollow bones

6 Mammals They have: head, trunk and limbs
Their body is covered with hair or fur They are viviparous. Babies drink milk from their mothers They are warm blooded They breathe through lungs
