Leif Ericson’s Early Work Early Life Leif Ericson Mysteries Leif Ericson Late Work Leif Ericson Late Life Glossary
Leif Ericson was born in Iceland around AD 970, and he was the second son of Eric The Red. When Leif Ericson was young, he worked on a farm with his parents, but all he really wanted to do is explore America by ship. He found out about the new land in the west from hearing a rumor, and then he had dreams of sailing to the west!
Leif Ericson was a Viking sailing around the sea with his crew. Ericson sailed in 1000 to Norway where he was converted to Christianity by the king. But on the way back from Norway, he sailed off rought and right into America where he found Vinland (Wineland).
Nobody actually knows where Leif Ericson actually sailed, they know he sailed to North America, but they are not 100% sure where he sailed in North America. Nobody really knows what he died from. Some believe that he died of cancer, and some believe he died of old age. ?
Leif Ericson was married to his wife named Thorgunna and had a child named Thorkel. Returning home, Ericson inherited his father’s estate, Brattahild, where it is believed he built the first Christian church in Greenland. Many historians contend that the voyage was not an accident but a well-planned expedition and that the Vikings under Ericson were the first Europeans to visit North America. Did You Know Leif Ericson was recognized by the president in 1925, October 9th and that is now celebrated as Leif Ericson Day ! Hello
