KILN BASED COKING PROCESS AND POWER GENERATION

The application of rotary kiln technology to process low calorific coal to produce coking coal The process allows for the use of the hot gases produced in the process to be used for power generation KILN BASED COKING PROCESS AND POWER GENERATION

The plant will process 250,000 t of low calorific coal(3000cal/kg), lignite and brown coal to produce 170,000t of coking coal A scrubber is used to remove particulates prior to the hot gases being used in an efficient manner to generate 30mw of power The tar removed in the process is collected for other uses

KILN BASED COKING PROCESS AND POWER GENERATION The gasification process produces hot gases at @ 1000 degrees centigrade The hot gases are supplied to a waste heat recovery boiler to produce steam, the turbine will consume the steam to produce 30mw of electrical power The rotary kiln, waste heat and recovery boiler and the steam turbine are “off the shelf” items

KILN BASED COKING PROCESS AND POWER GENERATION A 50,000 tonnes per annum coking plant has been operating in Australia for 2 years and designs have been completed for the construction of a 250,000 tonnes per year plant The plant will also produce 30mw of electrical power

KILN BASED COKING PROCESS AND POWER GENERATION It is expected that the time for construction of the plant from the date of authority to proceed to achieve commercial operation, including commencement of power generation, will take between twelve and fourteen months
