1 Unit Six: Do you have any plans?
Conversation One.

2 Future tense: We use the future tense to talk about things that have not happened yet. Past Present Future E.g. Tomorrow, I am going to go to the bank.

3 Good news!! Talking about the future is easy!
All we do is add “going to” before the verb, like this: I am going to go to a restaurant. I am going to eat a hamburger. I am going to drink a cola.

4 Notebook: Try it out! Write down four things you are going to do tomorrow. Make sure you use four different verbs!

5 Questions and answers:
Remember, the questions and answers are the same: What are you going to do tomorrow? I’m going to watch a movie. What is he going to do tomorrow? He is going to play basketball.

6 Future time: When we use the future tense, it’s important to say when something is going to happen. E.g. I’m going to watch the Lotte Giants tonight. I’m going to meet my friend tomorrow. He’s going to eat kalbi next Saturday. We’re going to travel to Japan next summer. She’s going to visit her grandmother for Chuseok. We are going to finish class soon.

7 Notebook: What are you going to do next Saturday?
What are you going to do tonight? Where are you going to go for vacation? Who are you going to go with? How long are you going to stay there?

8 Notebook: What are you going to do next Saturday?
I’m going to meet my friends in Somyeon next Saturday. What are you going to do tonight? I’m going to go to sleep early tonight. Where are you going to go for vacation? I’m going to go to New Zealand for vacation. Who are you going to go with? I’m going to go alone. How long are you going to stay there? I’m going to stay there for about three weeks.

9 Ask your partner: Ask your partner about their vacation plans.
Where is he going? Who is she going with? How long is he going to stay? What is she going to do?

10 Other ways to talk about the future:
We can also use the verb “will” to talk about our future plans. All you need to do is change “going to” for “will” in a sentence. E.g. I’m going to watch a movie tonight. I will watch a movie tonight.

11 Hmm…Maybe…? Sometimes, our plans are not certain (We don’t know what our plans are). If you are not sure what is going to happen, we can use some other words, like might, or probably. E.g. I might watch a movie tonight. I will probably watch a movie tonight.

12 Might / Will probably. Am going to / Will Will probably Might
Won’t / Am not going to 100% 75% 50% 0%

13 Vacation Plans. Am going to / Will Will probably Might
Won’t / Am not going to I am going to take a trip for vacation. I will take a trip for vacation. I will probably go to Jeju island.. I might visit my friend in Australia. I won’t go to the moon. I am not going to go to the moon. 100% 0%
