15 SAFETY STUDY PRESENTATION PROPOSED LONG TERM COUNTERMEASURES Reduce the operating speed on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from 55 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour between the Market Street Overpass Bridge and Main Street / Howard Street Perform a pavement improvement on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from the west end of the project limits to the Main Street / Howard Street intersection Construct a second eastbound left turn lane at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard / Main Street / Howard Street Intersection Convert the left turn movement on all four (4) approaches from protected/permitted to protected-only at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard / Main Street / Howard Street intersection Reconstruct the traffic signal at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard / Main Street / Howard Street intersection Change Configuration of Southbound Howard Street Approach
