Inclusion & Widening Diversity The FA Action Plan 2011 - 2014

Current Position As part of The FA’s Business Plan we are developing a coherent, internal facing plan to address homophobia and widen inclusion of LGBT participants. This plan sets out the broad objectives to guide football’s work, in partnership with organisations and or individuals who represent the voice of the LGBT Football community and the wider community at large.

Ownership The Senior Management team have the responsibility for ensuring the priorities set out are fully realised. The FA’s Advisory Group for Tackling Homophobia will oversee and support the delivery of these objectives with the Equality team.

Delivery themes for our work Education Visibility Partnerships Recognition Reporting Discrimination Monitoring & Evaluation

Education: There are approximately 48,000 people who access an array of football related course each year. Education is an ideal starting point to raise awareness of homophobic issues.

Visibility: We will explore and align with partnerships that heighten increased visibility and focus efforts in grassroots football.

Partnerships: We will work with the football family and partners such as GFSN, Pride Sports, The Justin Campaign, Schools Out, KIO, The Police and The CPS who can make a positive contribution.

Recognition: We will recognise and celebrate achievements and successes where there are examples of good practice that takes us towards positive change such as campaigns or local community projects.

Reporting Discrimination: We will work together with the football family and other organisations we support, to encourage the reporting of discrimination and hate crimes at all levels of the game.

Monitoring & Evaluation: We have identified clear sets of actions for The FA’s Senior Management team We will have a targeted approach towards monitoring and developing good practice case models that can influence change and attitude.
