JANUARY 24

Welcome ASL 1! Today -each team needs an iPad and an instruction sheet-by the iPad. 1. Doorbuster – copy all notes below:  Circumlocution = to talk “around” the meaning of something, when you do not know how to say or sign it.  This is an excellent skill to use in ASL. Instead of just fingerspelling, sign using what you do know.  Can you figure out the term the person wanted to sign from the example below?  Example: ME WANT, YOU-KNOW, AGE 16, SCHOOL LEARN DRIVE, TEST TAKE, PASS, GET PAPER, CAN DRIVE – THAT.  Equals: I want a ___________ ___________  2.Play“I spy”with your group: think of something in the room, the others ask questions. You only answer yes or no!

Last Five: Clean up any trash, and pack up to leave Push in your chairs (3 chairs per table, 4 ok for the 1 big table, then the rest at the side table) Stand in a semi-circle around the room – by walls (so all can see each other) Take turns signing something I make check marks, usually 2 per day, then at the end of the six weeks it becomes a test grade Absent? Sign you want to sign EXTRA for absence, and you can have an extra turn Reminders: Restroom passes for emergencies only; T-shirt money $13 ($15 seniors shirt)

Welcome ASL 3 and 4! Today:  1. Warm-up: Ask and answer someone about what you will do this weekend… Then Dr. Weast will ask you  2. Get a Literature Test Project Status sheet, and check off what you are in progress with or done with (see sheet).  Daily grade: voice off (of course). Show your progress as you work by having the sheet out so I can see what you are “in progress” with (so I know where you are at and what you are doing)  3. Get working on your literature video. Sign out iPad if needed.  Reminders: create the video using the aslhonorsociety.org requirements for this year’s competition  Follow my rubric from the PowerPoint slide (handouts available if you need one again)  Complete vide due Tuesday--- Monday class time only if needed? (based on what I see today; otherwise, you can finish in tutorials or at home- bring it in Tuesday)  -Last 5- instructions on next slide, for last five minutes of class

Last Five: Clean up any trash, and pack up to leave Push in your chairs Stand in a semi-circle, away from the door You will sign 3 sentences- go around, as many times as we can fit (usually 2 or 3) I make check marks each time you have a turn, & then at the end of the six weeks it becomes a test grade Absent? Sign you want to sign EXTRA for absence, and you can have an extra turn to earn the missed checkmark(s) Reminders: T-shirt money $13 ($15 seniors shirt)
