2 CFR: Our Mission To facilitate collaboration between Tufts University and key institutional partners and to nurture ongoing, mutually beneficial relationships

3 Huh…? What does this mission mean? In this presentation, we’ll offer a refresher on the who, what, when, how and where of Tufts Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR). We’ll also use case studies to illustrate how we build mutually beneficial partnerships with faculty and staff.

4 CFR: Who & What CFR assists Tufts faculty and staff with identifying potential funding sources for their programs and research. We do so by: Building relationships with potential funders Developing fund-raising strategies Writing grant proposals Helping you comply with reporting and other requirements Offering stewardship services such as acknowledgements and reporting Our Associate Directors work with the Deans of their assigned areas to set funding priorities for each school. We also work directly with investigators and staff.

8 Mutually Beneficial Partnerships We connect our institutional partners with Tufts Investigators to give Tufts the financial resources to support:  Scholarship  Research  Philanthropy  Special Events

9 CFR: How How do we make these connections, by:  Identifying Potential Relationships (Prospecting)  Creating New Relationships (Cultivating)  Enhancing Existing Relationships (Stewarding)

10 CFR: When It’s never too early It’s never too late

11 CFR: When Idea Funder Identified (gift, grant, or contract) Proposal and budget developed Submit to ORA for review Submit Proposal to Funder Wait Get Notice of Award or Contract ORA engages final negotiations/paperwork Agreement signed Account created by SPA, project executed ….then post-award reporting and stewardship
