A new way of reporting New file format for reporting XML – Yikes! What’s that? New data elements Lots of them!
Who will do all this work? We’re not in this alone – whew! SGHE California Solution Center agreed to develop new programs and processes Focus group was formed to help Several schools volunteered to meet biweekly for WebEx webinars
Focus Group California Solution Center Mike Reid - Director of CA Solution Center (C3SC) Chris Leuer - technical lead Jan Wilder - business analyst SunGard Professional Services Banner Schools Chabot-Los Positas College of SequoiasCuesta College Foothill-De AnzaKernCollege of Marin San MateoSierraSiskiyous SolanoVentura
The Work Begins C3SC team in place Focus group in place Technical ToolKit from PERS File formats Crosswalk tables (old data element -> new) File samples galore periodically updated Phone conferences with PERS
What we did Went through the PERS documentation, data element by data element Decided where on existing forms to store new data to be collected Agreed on design of new form to display PERS data Created new tables, forms, etc. Tested first versions of software
Out with the old Not really. Old stuff still there (PDAPERS, PDPPERS) but no longer relevant
End result of all that work New forms New program New database tables Take a look…….
And there’s More DE9C program – for reporting quarterly taxes to EDD Some fixes and enhancements to STRS program, PDPF496
Not Quite The End Software delivered, but… Still finding some glitches Solution Center working on it No worries - CalPERS is having problems too
Are we glad we did it? Of course! We gained insight into the process of program development We enjoyed a sense of camaraderie with members of the focus group. We have a feeling of accomplishment!
