2. To me, IRT is like the moment you see the real picture in one of those Magic Eye pictures because all the cluttered information from Classical Test Theory got out of the way and I can now more clearly see the "real" picture and information available.

3. To me, IRT is like having a good set of wipers on a rainy day because your vision of the important items within very important tests are clearly revealed and made possible to evaluate and adjust to give you better confidence in negotiating a once murky path.

4. To me, IRT is like a SwifferJet because it “cleans” up some of the limitations classical test theory presents by providing an attractive approach to modeling the relationship between item responses and the specified underlying trait being observed.

5. To me, IRT is like finding a decoder ring in a delicious box of SEM cereal because it provides a different way to look at some familiar concepts and a chance to win the prize (of insight into my research area).
