Seeker Sensitive Service Presented by Alice & Jonathan

I. What is a seeker service? A seeker service aims to present a church service that will meaningfully communicate with the seeker. Seeker Services try to avoid any barriers that will hinder the unchurched person from coming to faith in Christ.

I. What is a seeker service? I. What is a seeker service? Two Purposes of a Seeker Service : Two Purposes of a Seeker Service : 1. so that people without any religious background will understand everything that takes place 2. so that members are proud to bring their non- believing friends to it.

I. What is a seeker service? “Our members are constantly on mission to bring their friends and neighbors to these weekend seeker services.” -Rick Warren

When he started Saddleback Church, Rick Warren states that he immediately “decided to specialize our services, having one targeted for the purpose of growing Christians and planning another one specifically for reaching our non-believing friends. We call our evangelistic-targeted service a ‘seeker- sensitive service.’” The seeker services are designed to appeal to make sense to people with no religious background and are to be a safe place for believers to bring their seeking friends. 10 IV. Saddleback’s Purpose Statement “To bring people to Jesus and membership in his family, develop them to Christian maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God’s name.” “To bring people to Jesus and membership in his family, develop them to Christian maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God’s name.”

V. Saddleback’s Belief Statement God is bigger and better and closer than we can imagine. The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living. Jesus is God showing himself to us. Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through us now. Nothing in creation “just happened.” God made it all. Grace is the only way to have a relationship with God

V. Saddleback’s Belief Statement Faith is the only way to grow in our relationship with God. God has allowed evil to provide us with a choice, God can bring good even out of evil events and God promises victory over evil to those who choose him. Heaven and hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end. The church is to serve people like Jesus served people. Jesus is coming again.
