2 FACILITIES OVERVIEW | CURRENT FACILITIES Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre – 3 rinks / 15,000 seat arena Thunderbird Stadium – 3,200 seat artificial turf stadium Thunderbird Park – 12 playing fields, track and baseball field War Memorial Gymnasium – 3,000 seat gymnasium and administrative hub UBC Aquatic Centre John M.S. Lecky Boathouse – 14,000 square foot rowing and events facility Student Recreation Centre - 3 gymnasiums and fitness centre UBC Tennis Centre – 8 court / 80,000 square foot facility UBC Tennis Bubble – 4 court facility Gerald McGavin Rugby Centre / Old Rugby Pavilion Ponderosa Studio

3 FACILITIES OVERVIEW | NEW SPACES - UBC Aquatic Centre New UBC Aquatic Centre – composite drawings $40M UBC Aquatic Centre Construction commencing this summer and opening summer 2016 Unique facility in combining high performance, community and student recreation use – 400 square meter low depth warm water pool Sustainability – 4M gallons of water saved per year

9 FACILITIES OVERVIEW | NEW SPACES – Baseball Training Centre and Stadium 12,000 square foot baseball training center - $3.5M in donor funding Future baseball stadium being fundraised Multi-use indoor space that can be utilized for various sport activities

10 FACILITIES OVERVIEW | MASTER PLAN Completed to date 2008 Business Plan Audits / assessments completed of all A+R facilities 2012 Capital priorities and capital project summary completed Master plan Future needs assessment Addressing aging facilities: War Memorial Gymnasium / Thunderbird Stadium Partnerships Current student usage 21,000 individual students have participated in a recreational program (May 2014-Oct 2014; excludes Tennis and Ice) Current programs at capacity: IM leagues, Birdcoop, Drop-in sports in the gymnasiums (incl. Badminton)
