7 Role as Parents/Spectators Before – Goals/Expectations – Realize that participation is their thing – Release them to the game

8 RED Flags Continue to take credit for their success (We) Try to solve problems before they have problems Continue to coach when they know more than we do Avoid you or are embarrassed after a game You suffer with losses and celebrate more with wins than they do If your spouse or friends wont sit with you If you catch yourself yelling at a coach or official during a game

9 During – Focus on the Team – Allow them to focus on the coach – One instructional voice – Model appropriate behavior…Poise and confidence – Be proud of them regardless of playing time or how the game is going

10 After – Tell your child you enjoyed watching them play – Give your athlete time and space – Dont analyze their performance – Be proud of them regardless of playing time or how the game ended
