1 Higher Attainment Through Cross-Border Hubs CERTIFICATE IN SMALL BUSINESS FINANCE DELIVERED BY: South West College LOCATION: Cavan Innovation & Technology Centre, Dublin Road, Cavan RATIONALE: Many small businesses depend on a skeletal staff to deliver all areas of the business function. All aspects of finance from Vat to costing are part of the owner/manager function as they cannot afford significant accounting outlay. This course has been developed to bridge the gap between the needs of accountants while keeping most of the accounting function in house and accessible to the owner manager or key support staff. It is unique in that it will address business finance from a cross border perspective. COURSE CONTENT: To gain a full award all eight modules must be completed successfully. A separate Assignment must be completed for each module. 3 Higher Attainment Through Cross-Border Hubs ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT PRACTICE – FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS DELIVERED BY: Business Institute of the University of Ulster LOCATION: Cavan Innovation & Technology Centre, Dublin Road, Cavan & Enniskillen RATIONALE: Specifically course materials will appeal to those in the female entrepreneur category who require a next step support from ‘start your own business training’ particularly as they enter the growth phase of their businesses. The course will assist in: Developing their technical and professional knowledge and skills Increasing their management capability Enhancing their personal competencies and boosting business and organisational awareness COURSE CONTENT: Module 1– Personal and Professional Development - The aim of this Module is to develop the leadership competencies of individuals to support their professional development as managers and team leaders. Module 6 – Improving Organisational Performance - The aim of this module is to provide participants with both the knowledge of effective operating systems applicable to both the manufacturing and service sectors, and the understanding of the contexts in which they may be used. This practical course provides a framework for business managers to review their current operations and prioritise in light of the new and emerging economic climate of to-day. COURSE CONTENT: This module develops the knowledge and skills required to make most efficient use of resources in designing a business operation. It teaches how to optimise quality, cost and delivery of a product or service through the structured application of a series of business improvement techniques. It is applicable to any business, whether product or service based. Learning Outcomes On completion of the module, students will be able to: 1.Analyse a business process and prioritise areas for improvement 2.Carry out a structured problem solving exercise to generate solutions to identified problems 3.Implement changes to a business process 4.Design systems to monitor modified process and ensure compliance 5.Evaluate the effectiveness of this change in terms of key performance indicators.
