9. The following card is not one that was sent home, but one that was distributed by the wife and parents of a soldier amongst family and friends within the U.K. in 1917. Received a letter from parents, all is well there too – they want to slaughter * soon. Mother seems well enough, seems to have recovered reasonably well. Looks like she is getting better again. Sincere regards, Your father (*It was customary to keep one or two pigs, slaughter them at home and process the meat so as to preserve it for months).
