2 2 Course Goals The goal of this course is to provide you with the knowledge to set up SunGard SCT Banner for return of Title IV funds at your institution.

4 4 Overview u The Return of Title IV Funds is designed to help you comply with the Title IV regulations for federal financial aid. u This workbook will involve Banner Accounts Receivable, Student, and Financial Aid modules.

5 5 Objectives u Objectives for this course include: n set up forms related to the operation of the Title IV return of funds n identify Title IV recipients who have formally withdrawn or are no longer in attendance n determine the amount of Title IV aid that should be returned to the Title IV program by the institution and/or the student n return Title IV credits or authorizations

6 6 Set up – Accounts Receivable u Set up Banner Accounts Receivable for Title IV n SCT Banner only applies Title IV payments to charge detail codes that are designated as institutional charges or refunds on the Detail Code Control Form (TSADETC). n You may want to run the Detail Code Report (TGRDETC) to view a list of Title IV-related detail codes.

10 10 Set up - Student u Set up Banner Student for Title IV n You must setup Banner Student to use the Return of Title IV Funds n These steps include three basic tasks: u Set the Title IV original charge cutoff date and Title IV date source on the Term Control Form (SOATERM) u Build withdrawal codes on the Student Withdrawal Status Code Validation Form (STVWDRL) u Designate withdrawal status codes on the Enrollment Status Code Validation Form (STVESTS)

16 16 Set up – Financial Aid u Set up Banner Financial Aid for Title IV n You must set up Banner Financial Aid to use Return of Title IV Funds n These steps include two tasks: u Decide if your institution will round amounts to dollars (and not cents) u Decide if your institution will return the Student’s portion of the Title IV awards

19 19 Day-to-Day Objectives u At the end of this section, you will be able to n identify Title IV recipients who have formally withdrawn or are no longer in attendance n enter withdrawal information to be used by the Return of Title IV Funds Calculation process (RPTIVC) n determine the amount of Title IV aid that should be returned to the Title IV program by the institution and/or the student n return Title IV credits or authorizations

20 20 Day-to-Day - Student u Identify Title IV recipients who have formally withdrawn or are no longer in attendance n SFRNOWD u Identifies students who have zero enrollment hours but have not been officially withdrawn, and have grades that indicate they did not successfully complete the course. n SFRWDRL u Identifies withdrawn students who potentially need Title IV repayment but do not yet have an effective withdrawal record in the system.

21 21 Day-to-Day – Student u Maintain the Withdrawal Status of Students n Student Course Registration Form (SFAREGS) u After you determine that a student has withdrawn, you must update enrollment status n Enter additional withdrawal information for a withdrawn student (SFAWDRL) u Withdrawal code and effective date u Whether the student is a Title IV recipient u Adjustments to the start and end dates u Approved leave of absence u Allowable additional institutional costs u Adjustments to the original charge designation

22 22 Day-to-Day – Financial Aid u Calculate Title IV Repayment Amounts n Return of Title IV Funds Calculation Form (RPATIVC) or the Return of Title IV Funds Calculation Process (RPRTIVC) u Used to calculate a student’s Title IV repayment u Can choose Simulation mode from RPATIVC n Adjust awards as necessary on one of the Award forms (RPAAWRD, ROARMAN, RPAAPMT) n Run the Disbursement process via RPEDISB or online from ROAIMMP

23 23 Day-to-Day – Accounts Receivable u Apply Title IV Payments n Application of Payments Process (TGRAPPL) u Used to apply payments

24 24 Day-to-Day – Accounts Receivable u Unapply Title IV Payments n Unapplication of Payment process (TGRUNAP) u Used to unapply charges and payments automatically

25 25 Day-to-Day – Accounts Receivable u Refund Title IV Funds to the Student n Auto Refund Credit Amt-Student Process (TSRRFND) u Has the ability to look for a hold authorization code (HLD) that is attached to the student’s ID in the authorization table n Refund Review Form (TSARFND) u Used to view any balances, pending credits, and pending refund amounts from a student’s financial aid

26 26 Day-to-Day – Accounts Receivable n Students with Title IV Credit Report (TVRCRED) n Application of Payments Process (TGRAPPL) u You should run this report after all credits have been applied via the Application of Payments Process (TGRAPPL).
