Laundry planninig guide Hotels

INPUT DATA: Number of beds in the hotel The hotel occupancy (%) Number of seats in a restaurant Number of staff uniforms Laundry labour time (hours) DETERMINATION OF DAILY CAPACITY OF HOTEL LAUNDRY

Indicative weight of dry linen Restaurants: 0,5kg per seat Hotel 1 star: (without restaurant) Hotel 2 star: (without restaurant) Hotel 3 star: (without restaurant) Hotel 4 star: (without restaurant) Hotel 5 star: (without restaurant) 1kg/room/day 2kg/room/day 3kg/room/day 4kg/room/day 5kg/room/day 1person Notes: a)Hotel ratio to be multiplied by 1,6kg per extra person b)For 4 star or higher hotels we can add an extra 5% extra for the laundry service for guests

Proportion of linen per type of hotel Flat linenTowel linen 1 star hotel90%10% 2 star hotel90%10% 3 star hotel70%30% 4 star hotel65%35% 5 star hotel50% Flat linen (bed sheets, table cloths & blankets) to be ironed in ironers Towel linen ( hand & bath towels, bath robes ) to be dried in tumble dryer

C = Q * N * O * P * 7 days/ H C=Capacity of linen to wash per hour Q=Ratio for the hotel N=Number of rooms O=Occupancy P=Proportion of linen per type of hotel H=Working hours per week Formul of calculation

4 stars hotel, 250 beds Occupancy 80% 120 seats in the restaurant 50% of clients stay at just one night, the others variously 15 employees Laundry operating time – 40 hours per week EXAMPLE

Room set: C = Q * N * O * P * 7 days/ H 4 * 250 * 0,80 * 0,5 * 7 = 2800 per week Table set Daily restaurant – 120 seats → 30 tables with tablecloths 30 * 0,6kg = 18 kg/day Kitchen staff 15 personnel: 15 * 1kg = 15 kg/day TOTAL KILOS PER WEEK: 2800 + (18 x 7) + (15 x 7) = 3031 kg/week TOTAL KILOS PER DAY: 3031 kg/7 days = 433 kg/day EXAMPLE 1 - 4 stars hotel, 250 beds

PROPOSAL OF TECHNOLOGY - WASHING Washing requirements: 433 ÷ 6* = 72 kg/cycle TOTAL KILOS PER DAY NUMBER OF WASHING CYCLES PER DAY TOTAL KILOS PER WASHING CYCLE WASHING MACHINE FS40 1:10 – 40 kg WASHING MACHINE FS22 1:10 – 22 kg WASHING MACHINE FS16 1:10 – 16 kg 78 kg/cycle * Experiences show that washing machines with electric heating are able to make just 6÷6,5 cycles/shift. EXAMPLE 1 - 4 stars hotel, 250 beds

Drying requirements: 434 ÷ 8 x 35% = 22 kg/hour TOTAL KILOS PER DAY NUMBER OF HOURS LAUNDRY IS OPERATED PER DAY % OF TOTAL TO BE TUMBLE DRIED TOTAL KILOS TO BE DRIED TUMBLE DRYER T24 1:35* - 15kg TUMBLE DRYER T16 1:35 - 10kg 25kg/hour Drying time lasts approximately 45 min. + 5 min. cooling time. * Recommended load rate for terry linen. PROPOSAL OF TECHNOLOGY - DRYING EXAMPLE 1 - 4 stars hotel, 250 beds

Flatwork requirements: 434 ÷ 8 x 65% = 35 kg/hour TOTAL KILOS PER DAY NUMBER OF HOURS LAUNDRY IS OPERATED PER DAY % OF FLATWORK CONTAINED IN TOTAL TOTAL KILOS OF FLATWORK PER HOUR For figured capacity we can choose an appropriate ironer with capacity closest to calculated → I50-200 with capacity 50kg/hour. PROPOSAL OF TECHNOLOGY - IRONING EXAMPLE 1 - 4 stars hotel, 250 beds

LAUNDRY PLAN – MIN. AREA 40m² EXAMPLE 1 - 4 stars hotel, 250 beds
