1 Holiday Traditions Created by Mrs. Gramza’s Second Grade Class December 2008

2 MY FAMILY TRADITION BY AMIE My family’s tradition is on Christmas morning I wake up at 7:01 and wake up my parents. We go open our presents and see if Santa drank the milk and ate the cookies. I usually don’t throw the paper and say happy holidays!My parents usually get a mug or an air freshaner. Whial thay are ether drinking from thair mug or smelling thair air freshenar, I play with my new toys.It is fun.

3 Amie’s Family Recipe Grandma’s Pecan Pie ½ Cup Brown ½ Cup Sugar ½ Cup Light Corn Syrup ¼ Cup Melted Butter (1/2 Stick) 3 Eggs 1 Tsp Vanilla 1 Cup Chopped Pecans 1 Nine Inch Pie Shell Beat eggs. Combine all ingredients except for the pecans. Boil for 1 minute. Stir in pecans. Pour mixture into pie shell. Garnish with whole pecans arranged in a circle in the center. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 – 30 minutes (or until crust browns).

4 My Family Traditions by Georgie Every year my family and I go to see my grandma And grandpas. I go to see them on the day after Christmas. We go to their house in the mountains. I go with my family. I love this because we get To be together!

5 Georgie’s Family Recipe Here is the recipe for the one food that we must have at every holiday get together. Pigs in a Blanket: One pack of little smokies Two cans of Pilsbury Crescent Rolls Boil the smokies for about a minute and drain Wrap each smokie in some of the crescent roll dough Place on pan Bake as directed on crescent roll package Then eat em till u feel sick!!

6 My Family Tradition by Ashley At Christmas time my family has a big fire and we cook lots of delicious food. Our fire is really warm. My Mom, Dad and brother Thaddeus gives hugs and kisses. We get lots of time together. The food is grate I am stuffed for a week. We learn how to be thankful for God.

7 MY FAMILY TRADITION by Madison During the holidays my family goes to Bethlehem. Going to Bethlehem is my favorite holiday tradition. This is special because it is about someone great. My family and I do this. This activity is outside. At the church people give us gold coins and the roman soldiers try to steal it. I love it.

8 My family traditions by brett During the holydays my family members come over for a Christmas party.Then we go look at Christmas lights.I go with my Mom and Dad thow Town Lake.We were sending time togeter in the back of my Dads truck.Then once we’re done we go back home to cut down a Christmas tree.Next we put the Christmas ortimets on the Christmas tree.Later we all go to bed and thank about all the presents that we could get.In the morning we gasp of all the presents we got from Santa Clause.P.S. we tore the wrappers to pieces.

9 Brett’s Family Recipe LaMonte Casserole 1 large zucchini¾-1 Ccheddar cheese 1-2 large yellow squash¾-1 C mozzarella cheese 3large tomatoes¼ C parmesan cheese Salt and Pepper This is a layered casserole that is YUUUUUUMMY! *Preheat oven to 350°. Spray Pam or grease 8x8 baking dish. *Slice zucchini, yellow squash, and tomatoes into ¼” slices. *Lay tomatoes slices to cover the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle lightly with S&P, then sprinkle with both cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. *Next, add layer of zucchini squash slices and top with S&P and both cheeses again. *Then add layer of yellow squash slices and top with S&P and both cheeses. *Finally, top with another layer of tomato slices. Add cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. (you can add a little chopped parsley for pretties). *Bake for about 30 minutes (depending on how thick the veggie slices are). When veggies are tender, put under broiler to brown the cheeses. You may have to add a wee bit more parm. *ENJOY!!!! You can substitute different veggies… I have used turnips, butternut squash and eggplant.

10 MY FAMILY TRADTION BY JESSICA RINKER Every year my family and I go to Hillside Church on Christmas Eve. It is family Tradition ! We see a Christmas play and Sing songs ! One time we saw the Polar Express. It was cool! I love my family tradition!

11 Jessica’s Family Recipe SUGAR COOKIES WITH LOVE Ingredients: 2 Rolls of Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough 1-3 Tsp. flour Wax Paper Lots of Christmas Cookie Toppings Christmas Cookie Cutters Mom Preheat oven according to directions. Let cookie dough sit out of fridge for approximately 15 min. Form cookie dough into a soft ball and be sure to sprinkle some flour on a rolling pin and the cookie dough! Roll out flat on to wax paper. Sprinkle a little more flour to help cookie cutters from sticking. Bake as directed. Be creative and decorate the cookies with lots of love and Christmas spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 Holiday Traditions By ChriSTIAN Every year my family puts up trees. Every Christmas my family goes to our house in Georgia or Alabama and open gifts and have hot co-co Then when we’re done we go to my Grandma’s house and open gifts. Every Christmas we make sure that everybody is up before we open gifts. Every Christmas day Reminds us of the day Jesus was born. Every Christmas we watch the Polar Express.

13 Christian’s Family Recipe Cranberry Sauce Salad 1 small box raspberry jello 1 cup boiling water 1 can jellied cranberry sauce Dissolve jello in boiling water, then blend in cranberry sauce and mix on low speed on mixer until creamy. (About 5 min.) Let congeal. (I usually make the night before and refrigerate overnight) Topping: 1 envelope Dream Whip, prepared as directed on box 1 Tbsp. lemon juice 1 small (3 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Mix lemon juice into whipped cream. Mix sugar into creamed cheese and fold into whipped cream mixture. Fold in chopped nuts. Spread on top of congealed jello and refrigerate. I usually "double" the jello mixture and the topping. Recipe not doubled will probably serve 2-4 people.

14 My Family’s Tradition by Sarah My family’s tradition is the Christmas pickle. Mom hides a pickle ornament on the tree. If you find it you get a free present on Christmas. We do it before we open presents. We do it at home with my brothers and sisters. It’s exciting because of all the places my mom can hide it.

15 Kailey’s Family Recipe A Family Traditional Recipe From The Home Of The Stathams: Grand-Nana's Sugar Cookies 1 egg 1/2 cup butter 2 cups plain flour 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 baking powder 1 cup sugar 1/2 tsp salt Cream sugar, eggs, and butter. Add flour with salt a little at a time, then vanilla. Roll out and cut into shape desired. Refrigerate for two hours. Bake at 375 10 to 12 minutes. Sprinkle sugar while hot! Enjoy

16 My FAMILY’s TRADITON by Cam My family celebrates Jesus’ birthday.

17 Cam’s Family Recipe Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes Sweet Potatoes Onion Sour Cream Butter Salt and Pepper Bake sweet potatoes until soft for approximately 1 hour. Scoop out insides of potatoes and keep skins. Mix Sweet potatoes, onion, sour cream, s&p and butter together. Place mixture back into skins and warm.

18 My Family Tradition by Dominick My family tradition is decorating the Christmas tree! My mom, grandma and I do this a few days after Thanksgiving. When we do this we drink hot coco and we remember past Christmases. we put a picture of my granpas. That is my favorite family tradition!

19 Dominick’s Family Recipe Struffoli (Approx. 12 servings) 4 eggs 2 cups of flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1/4 teaspoon of salt 1 cup of honey 2 tbsp. colored sprinkles Mix the eggs, flour, salt and baking powder together to form a dough. Add more flour if needed. Roll into loaves, then dice into small squares. Deep-fry in canola oil till golden brown. Heat honey for a few seconds. Add sprinkles to honey. Spoon honey mixture over top of deep-fried dough squares (struffoli). Scoop struffoli into cupcake liners. Garnish with more sprinkles

20 My Family Tradition By Steven My family tradition is spending time together. My uncle, Mandy, Grant, Megan, Parker come to have Christmas. We give out presents to each other. We cook cookies for Santa Clause. Cookies that are left over we eat. My family and I open our stockings.

21 Steven’s Family Recipe Bisquick Chocolate Chip Cookies (The key to his recipe is the peanut butter!) ½ cup of butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 egg 2 cups of Bisquick 1 cup chocolate chips 2 heaping t. peanut butter Preheat the oven to 375. Beat softened butter, brown sugar and egg. Add peanut butter. Stir in Bisquick and chocolate chips. Bake 10 minutes

22 My Family Traditions By Chase We light the Menorah one for each day of Hanukkah. My mom, brother, cousins, grandma and I are all together. My moms favorite traditions are lighting the Monorah and making the food for us. This is some of favorite traditions with our family.

23 My Family Tradition. By Clark In the morning first we make cookies second we put the Christmas tree up. Third we make some milk for Santa Clause. Fourth we make a snow man. Then we go to sleep. Good night.

24 Catalina’s Family Tradition During the Christmas Holiday my family puts up the Christmas Tree and decorates it. I put up the star on the top of the tree. Then I eat Santa cookies for breakfast. At night I right a card to Santa about what I wanted for Christmas. Next I go to bed and think about if Santa is going to come. The next morning. I wake up and go down stairs and open and play with it.

25 My Family Tradition by Caitlin My family tradition is decorating the Christmas tree. Ryan and mommy and daddy and I decorate. Then Sharky wears a Christmas hat. Every one has a stocking even the dogs. We make gingerbread men. The dogs gets to eat one or two.

26 My Family Fun by Jeremy My grandparents come Canada. I open my presents with them. I make a ginger bread house with my family. I eat diner with my family. I bake cookies with my family.
