1 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 Write your homework in your agenda Math 7A- WB p. 4-5 Math 7- WB pg. 201 Reminders: Set up your math binder by Monday (8/29). Directions are posted on the homework page of my website. Math Riddles Projects due Friday (8/26) Warm-up: Math 7A- Suppose the temperature starts at -50 degrees and increases 40 degrees during the day. What will the new temperature be? Show two different ways to get the answer. Math 7- Write each fraction as a decimal.

2 Edmodo Backpack You will upload your Math Riddles Project to your Edmodo backpack and then post it to the group to turn it in. Log in to Edmodo. At the top of the page, click on “Library” Click on “Add to Backpack” Click on “Upload” Navigate to your project on your computer. Click “Add to Library”

3 Posting Your Project Once your project is in your backpack you can turn it in by posting it for the group and/or me to view. Click on “home” at the top of the page. Type your message where it says “post:” Click on “library” below your message Select your project from your Edmodo backpack. Click “attach” In the “send to” box type Ms. Van Looy and the group you want to send it to (Math 7 or Math 7A). Click “send”

4 Math 7A: Extending the Number Line Take out your class work from yesterday. Questions? Check our work. Turn in the assignment.

5 Math 7A Essential Question: What are the algorithms for adding and subtracting Integers? GPS: M7N1.c- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative rational numbers. Holt lessons 1-4 & 1-5 (p. 18-25) What is the relationship between a number and it’s opposite? How does that relationship relate to adding and subtracting integers? 6 Math 7 Check homework Essential Question: How does understanding different representations of a number help to compare and order rational numbers? GPS: M7N1.a. Find the absolute value of a number and understand it as the distance from zero on a number line. M7N1.b. Compare and order rational numbers, including repeating decimals. Vocabulary discussion Pearson 1-6: Comparing and Ordering Integers Complete “Daily Notetaking Guide” Lesson 1-6 in your workbook (p. 12-13) with a partner. Independent Practice: pg. 33 (12-42 even)
