CDL SKILLS TESTING - 2004  Effective March 1, 2004  Six new CDL Skills Test Exercises Grouped into three categories Students will perform one randomly selected exercise from each category on their CDL test for DMV  Minimum passing score = 12 pts.  Students must complete all exercises as directed  Students must learn all six exercises

6. CDL SKILLS TESTING - 2004  Straight Line Backing Student will drive through the 12’ wide lane, stop with end of trailer even with the last cone, sound horn and back through the 100’ long lane. Encroachments = 2 pts. Pull-ups = 1 pt. Looks = 1 pt. Final position = 10 pt. 1 free pull-up 1 free look

CDL SKILLS TESTING - 2004  Offset Backing (right) Student will drive through lane and stop 140’ past end of lane (100’ for class “B”), sound horn and back entire vehicle into a 12’ wide lane to the right of his/her vehicle. Encroachments = 2 pts. Pull-ups = 1 pt. Looks = 1 pt. Final position = 10 pt. 2 free pull-ups 2 free looks

CDL SKILLS TESTING - 2004  Offset Backing (left) Student will drive through lane and stop 140’ past end of lane (100’ for class “B”), sound horn and back entire vehicle into a 12’ wide lane to the left of his/her vehicle. Encroachments = 2 pts. Pull-ups = 1 pt. Looks = 1 pt. Final position = 10 pt. 2 free pull-ups 2 free looks

9. CDL SKILLS TESTING - 2004  90 o Alley Dock Student will drive past the opening of a 12’ wide, 40’ deep alley and position at a 90 o angle to the alley, sound horn and back into the alley within 3’ of the rear of the alley. Encroachments = 2 pts. Pull-ups = 1 pt. Looks = 1 pt. Inside 3’ = 10 pt. Inside Alley = 10 pt. 2 free pull-ups 2 free looks

10. CDL SKILLS TESTING - 2004  Parallel Park (sight side) Student will drive past the 12’ wide parking space that is 15’ longer than the vehicle, position at any angle they choose (recommended 30 o ) and back ENTIRE VEHICLE into space. Encroachments = 2 pts. Pull-ups = 1 pt. Looks = 1 pt. Final position = 10 pt. 2 free pull-ups 2 free looks
