EUITT Technical School of Telecomunication Engineering Academic year 2005-2006 University of Las Palmas G.C. - History  Since 1979, the Polytechnic University of the Canary Islands was created in Gran Canaria and later on was integrated into the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC).  The ULPGC was founded in 1989-1990 after the Canarian Parliament passed the “Ley de Reorganización Universitaria de Canarias” (University Reorganization Law of the Canary Islands).  The application of the mentioned law not only created the ULPGC, whose rectorate is locate in Gran Canaria, but it also meant the integration of the Polytechnic University of the Canary Islands. 2001/02 academic year was inaugurated by Juan Carlos I, King of Spain  ULPGC was originally made up of 19 centers. Some of which dated back to the mid nineteenth or early twentieth centuries.
