3 Major Chord Major Triad A Major chord has a root (1), a major third (3 rd ) and a perfect fifth (5 th )

4 Minor Chord  Differs from a major chord in that it is has a MINOR third instead of a major third plus the root and the fifth. F Minor G Minor C Minor

5 Major third and Minor third  A Major Third has an interval of Two Tones  A Minor Third has an interval of One Tone and a semi-tone

6 Augmented Chords O The Augmented chord is the triad consisting of a major third and an augmented fifth above the root. This means you sharpen the fifth – if the root is C, the augmented chord consists of the notes C, E and G ♯. C AugmentedF AugmentedG Augmented

7 Diminished Chords  Diminished triad consists of the root (1), minor third ( 3) and a minor fifth ( 5).  Basically, its like a minor third stacked on a minor third. It sounds very closed and squashed. F Diminished

9 Diminished 7 th Chords A chord consisting of three intervals of a minor 3rd built one on top of the other, the interval between the lower and top note being a diminished 7th. In C major:

10 Dominant 7 th Chords O A seventh chord is a chord consisting of a triad plus a note forming an interval of a seventh above the chord's root. In C major:

11 Added 6 th Chords O A "sixth chord," also called the "added sixth chord,“ is a major triad with the interval of a sixth added (as measured from the root of the chord). C added 6 th
