2 Going to a 4 year University/College Straight From High School In planning the high school courses remember MOST colleges/universities have minimum admission requirements:  Must have a minimum of 4 math courses beginning at Math I and ending at a math higher than Math III  Must have a minimum of 2 levels of the same foreign language  Must have a minimum of a 2.5 Grade Point Average For most schools, admissions tests are required: Either SAT or ACT  Minimum SAT (Reading + Math) = 800  Minimum ACT (Composite) = 17  Most colleges recommend 2 test scores (either 2 SAT or 2 ACT or one of each)

3 Specific University Requirements Please note, South Carolina schools also require an extra lab science and an art class for admission into most of their colleges. The University of Georgia has also added the science requirement this year. See the college website for details.

6 Sending Test Scores Official scores must be sent directly to colleges from testing websites by the student. Official scores must be sent directly to colleges from testing websites by the student. Students may choose to send scores to four colleges at no additional cost when registering for test. 7 FEE WAIVERS Available for those who qualify for free- reduced lunch. Detailed information can be found on the testing agency websites. If a waiver is used for testing, waivers for college application fees can also be obtained. See your school counselor for questions.

8 Two-Year College Applicants SAT/ACT are not needed for community college admissions! Most students sit for the AccuPlacer test for PLACEMENT purposes only. This is taken at any local community college. If a student has an SAT or ACT score, this could assist with academic placement and scholarship eligibility.

9 PAPER / US MAIL ELECTRONIC Fill out a form in the School Counseling Office to have us process and send. Mostly done for out of state schools. $3.00 per transcript.  CFNC  SENDEDU  DOCUFIDE  COMMON APP This is much more time and cost efficient! Sending Transcripts

17 BOTTOM LINE COST: Cap and Gown $16.95 Shipping $9.75 Taxes+ $2.87 TOTAL $28.57 If you order other items which cost more, please remember that you will not receive your cap-n-gown until the entire bill is paid.

18 Please have your order form filled out and money ready. Checks can be made out to Jostens. If you don’t have an order form, they will bring extras, but you should still have your money ready. If you have a financial hardship, please give your name to Mrs. Russell in the School Counseling Office.

19 College Admissions Night Come hear a college admissions representative from: a UNC System Public School (UNC-Charlotte) a private school (Catawba College) a community college (Rowan Cabarrus) Speak on the various differences in the schools regarding admissions and academic options.
